Default St3500 vs ST4000 vs SY4000 vs Vig4000

I am currently running an ST3500 with 3.73 gears. My car has all of the bolt on's plus heads and cam. Would I be better off staying with the ST3500 or going for a converter with more stall? By best 60 ft. is a 1.66 on ET Streets. Which of the 4000 stall converter will give the best driveability and performance. I will be running ET Streets and I don't want a converter that is too loose.

The best 60' converters (e.g. YTP 4400, Vig 3600, TCS 4200) are all going to be looser than you what you have. Probably the TCS 4200 would do the best trade-off)

I would go with a TCS converter for many reasons, you can tell them what STR you want with that 4200. But I will say I was very impressed with my Vig3600 as you can see in my sig. As far as price goes your best bet would be TCS or PI VIG.

My 4200 w/ 2.7 STR and 3.23 gears was very tight. I wish I would have gone with a 4400 with a 2.5 STR.

a vig4000 is really about a 4400 stall so you want a vig3600 which equals 4000 in real life

I'd lean towards ragtops advice. I dont think you will see a huge gain with any 4000 stall, but you will see a tenth or 2 maybe. Good luck

If you want crisp throttle response with much stronger 60' times, you should really consider the Yank Super Stock 4000. The advanced 21 blade stator gives the converter the rare blend of hard launch, good throttle response, and high efficiency.

The SY4000 is a killer converter at the track and on the hwy.My best 60ft is a 1.58 with 3.42 gears leaving at 2000rpm on 275 Nitto DRs.I have been trapping 120mph in 90degrees weather with a 2000+ DA.This after a retune by MTI,before in 82degree weather 118+mph.3.73s they say feel even better with this converter.
