Default Tranny issue or what?

I have a 2000 Formula A4 with 3:73s and a 3400 stall. Driving down the road whenever I step on the brakes the rpm's drop to idle speed and it seems like the transmisson goes into nuetral. Is this normal behavior?

If you are in OD and you let off the gas. Because of the way the input sprag works , it allows a coast state like free wheel this is normal. Kinda works like a ten speed bike when you stop pedaling.

He could also be fealing the lock up clutch releasing, which in turn feals like the trans is freewheeling.

True you get the release of the lockup on decel and the free wheel of the inout sprag effect. And it does feel almost like you shifted to neutral
