If stock G.M. trannys are...
If stock G.M. transmissions are rated by torque, 4L60e and 4L80e, then why does the aftermarket rate them by horsepower not torque?

I don't think I would worry too much about that when choosing a unit or combination for my car. There really is no rhyme or reason for it.
Unless you are making well in excess of 700 H/P most of the stock trannies can be built to take that much energy.
Kinda reminds me why we build "Stage" or "Level" so and so .... I do it for comparisons sake. But, I do not necessarily agree with it. It has been that way for many years in the aftermarket. What I tell guys is this.... you wouldn't ask your engine builder for his "Stage" 2 engine right?
Most of the units we build are custom builds that are specific for the application.
