Default vacumn hose on 4L60E

On my 4L60E their is a vacumn hose on what i call the vent tube on top of the trans. that was cut off. Does this need to be tied back into the vacumn or is it ok to let it vent normally?

It is strictly a vent. There is no vacuum line going to it. The short side is a vent and the long side is the drain.

Mine has a vacumn hose on the top vent tube with a diaphram that will let the vacumn pull but will let nothing happen in the other direction. I didn't hook it to nothing and was just wondering if something had changed from a turbo 350. Thanks
