Is there a difference in an LT1 converter and LS1 converter???

I was curious to see what the difference was in the two.

There are substantial differences. The input shafts are physically different, the crankshaft pilot hub is different.

Unfortunately they are not interchangeable.

Why does an LT1 coverter work in a C5 , but other LS1 converters(F Body) wont? I Understand that they are phiscaly diferant, but why? Are there ay atvantages to the changes made?

so an ls1 60e converter wont fit a lt1 60e?

2 styles of 4L60 converters.

298MM LT1 style OAH 5.950 - Converter style used in the very first 700R4/4L60 in 1982. Essentially unchanged since then.

300MM LS1 style OAH 6.500 - Converter used first in LS1 Camaro/Firebird and eventually in all GM 4L60's

For some reason they decided to use the 298MM style in LS based Corvettes, Although they did make an interesting converter for the 2005 model year, right before the 6L80. It was a cross breed between the 300MM style and the new 6L80 converter.
