Well I'm ready to install the valve body plate when I notice that the small screen has a tab broken on it and it won't stay in the plate. What do I do? Do I have to have the small screen? Does Autozone sell them (I doubt)?

I don't think that a parts store will carry it. IIRC the one in the rear section is for the solenoids/shift valves. Don't remember off hand but I always make sure to reinstall it. I have some at the shop if you need one or you can always try a local transmission shop. Good luck. Vince

 

A local trans shop should give you one, they come with every gasket and seal kit and don't always need to be replaced.
