A4<-->M6 Upper Consoles Interchangable?

Hey guys-
I researched some and couldnt find this answer. I have an m6 console and want an a4 console and shifter.
Can the upper consoles just be switched?
I have also heard Camaro/Firebird consoles are different?

I put my firebird shifter plate into my camaro. And yes, all you need is the shifter plate and it just pops into the center console

.

Thanks alot! Thats good i can just buy an auto "upper console" or shifter plate as you call it to replace my m6 plate.
