Default transmission slipping??

okie dokie. i have a 96 z28 ... i've only had it for a few months. its got 138k on it. from what i can tell the transmission has been rebuilt and seems to have a shift kit .... (i dont know, i have no records)

recently i've noticed like a little skip when i'm driving on the highway -- mostly at around 55-65 mph at 2k rpm's and traveling at a steady speed. the rpm's will be chillin at 2k and then when the skip comes, they jump up 1 or 2 notches and go right back down to two.

it feels almost like a sputter - like it has bad gas or the fuel injectors are clogged or something ... but its been doing it for a while so im thinking it might be the transmission.

soo should i start looking for a new transmission (my boyfriend wants to put a 5 speed in it ... BOO) or what should i do ??

The description your giving sounds more like the converter unlocking and locking, Theres a good possibility its due to engine missfire, I would get with a tuner and check that first, 135000 in a performance car is however alot of miles.

OHHH. it did throw a code the other day & it was a misfire in multiple cylinders.

soo i probably need a tune up right?

yeah 135k is a lot... but it runs perfect... but then i dont know if its been rebuilt or anything.

Sounds like you have your problem , I would get a tuneup and go from there the missfire code will cause the converter to lock and unlock randomly

If the computer deems that the misfire may cause damage to the transmission it can unlock the converter for the rest of the ride in some cars!
