What is the correct way to install a Yank SS-3800?
I did both of them myself on a BP and then sent one back for a faulty clutch. It went bad after 200 miles. Its all fixed now.Mike did clean up the pads alittle bit more but only about .010,Check it just to make sure the clearance is right

I've had my Yank SS3800 for a little over two months. I had it installed by a local trans shop who had done LS1's before. They had zero problems with the install. Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble. If it's any consolation, the converter is awesome. My 2002 SS is stock, and after the install the car is now a beast. Too much snow on the ground for any drag strip testing, but jumped on it a few times and man if you can get it to hook it just pulls and pulls. If your under 20mph and go WOT on street tires, it will just spin and spin. Definitely an exercise in throttle management. Hope everything works out for you.
GOOD NEWS!!! Yank overnighted me a letter saying my convertor would not fit, and to send it back to them overnight. They are sending me one overnight today also. I guess they had been trying to contact me, but the shop that I ordered the convertor from completely screwed up all of my information...and gave yank the wrong phone number and e-mail address. It was the shop's fault in other words. I guess I was one of a lucky group of 6 that Yank's supplier did not do the proper back cut on the stator. All in all I am really happy with Yank, now that I know this would have been taken care of last week if the shop that I ordered it from would have had better book keeping!! I am anxious to get the convertor in and I will post the results!!

I gues I had one of the six as well. I purchased directly from Yank and had it sent to the insteller. Yank was procative in recalling the converter, saying there was a problem with the spline fitting.
I am thankful that the problem was detected before the install. Unfortunately I am still waiting on the replacement (going on 4 weeks.)

well it is awesome that Yank stood behind their product and too bad that you had to learn the hard way not to deal with that 2nd class shop.

Makes me happy to see someone not rant and rave, and have patience. Shi$ does happen, sometimes.
Hope everything works out for you!

Yeah, I really appreciate everything Mike has done!!! My new convertor was here today, and I just sent them the old one at 3pm yesterday!! Excellent customer service!!!
So the moral of the story is?
1) DO NOT do business with NON-BOARD sponsors?
or
2) Mike @ Yank like everyone else is human, and does make mistakes, but given the chance is more than willing to fix it?
Hmmmmmm.....!
All I know is I love stories with a happy ending!

I will be having a talk with them though...... 2)I will always be a Yank loyal customer from now on!! Mike is a really good guy that went way out of his way to help me. It really wasn't yank's fault, because it is a part from their supplier that was causing the trouble..not actually yank's manufacturing of the convertor. Mike did take care of me and I really appreciate it!!!!
WJ 99 SS- I would like to help you out, but the car was purchased, and has not been driven.. It was immediately put up on jack stands, and we started the work on it... heads/cam/full suspension, every possible bolt on, etc.... So unfortunately I can not give you a good answer to your question.

Just keep calling Mike, did you have one of the bad ones? If so, my situation was he had a couple of ss 3800's in stock so he sent me one out. I guess it will depend on whether he has yours in stock. If you just ordered it though from a sponsor or directly, plan on waiting around 2 months. Good luck man!! I am sure it is worth the wait!!
