Default 4L80E, has anyone done this yet?

I want names

Wondering what is involved. I dont want to hear about the weight differences, other than for information purposes.

I know it is heavier, but I need OD. Power is not going to be a problem.

I was wondering myself. Would they share the same converter? I can honestly say I have never seen a converter advertised for a 4L80E.

Dave (Formulation) is doing one on his Twin Turbo Formula....he hangs out in the forced induction section a lot....but I would e-mail him if you have questions...

How much power? More than Weatherguy put down on the juice? I would go with a ***** to the wall 2004R before I slapped on a 4L80E.

Anyone seen Troy Trepanier's newest creation, Chicayne? 1200hp TT SBC, using what? A 4L80E. Yes, he has more room in a sled like that, but the point is, it can handle the power, if you don't mind the extra weight. I know, I know, "but Buick guys use the 200R4 to 1200+ also." But which is more proven, 200R4, or T400? That's basically all the 4L80E is, and Electonic OD 400, so I say go for it, but then again, what the hell do I know, I'm an M6 guy

There is an LT1 guy named Les over in the advanced tech section of www.camaroz28.com who posted that he is running a 4L80E in his car. He mentioned needing to slightly massage certain spots of the tranny tunnel. Do a search in that section.

I don't think the fitting it is that much of an issue, the link to the camaroz28 tread is very good and informative. Yes, I am having a 2001 4L80E fully built for my 400 ci twin turbo setup, I would like to make at least 750-850 to the wheels, definitly possibly with my combo. The convertors are different than a 4L60E, the stock one is huge like 13" and weighs like 75-100 lbs. alone. I'll probably get a PI custom 9.5" unit with lock up, that alone should knock some weight off. Also I'm using a TCI tranny controller to run and adjust it, e-mail me with any other Q's. Thanks Dave
