anyone ever tried this kit before??
i have some questions about this kit.
as with this Trans-Go reprogramming kit http://www.bulkparts.com/MM007.ASP?pageno=1173 as i understand this gives full manual control to automatic transmissions. but being that this is a 4l60-E what would PCM and tranny do when the trans wont shift until the shifter is actually moved into 2nd gear?? assumin the rev limiter is no trouble
this is going in a 94 Firebird (OBD-1) that currently has a M5. would new PCM be needed to go wtih trans? it is a electronic trans but it will not be shifting electronically anymore because of the reprogramming kit
anyways just need some info

he posted this for me
I need to know if I convert to a 4L60E, can I put that reprogram kit on and get full control of the tranny without having any pcm interaction with it?
meaning that I can keep my stock pcm from a 5 speed car which wont matter anyway but I Dont' want to change anythign except the tranny itself and mount and shifter for the conversion.
I was thinking 700R4 but since the electronic tranny maybe able to do the same and they maybe easier to come by I thought I would check.
Thanks.

First, I am not claiming to be an "expert," I am just a guy with a set of Helm manuals with a passion for his car. I did this mod to my stock 98Z (4l60e) this weekend. There are a few things that need to be cleared up first. You have to realize that When Transgo says "full manual control," the best way I can describe it is now I can move the shifter without pushing the button on it that would normaly need to be engaged to move it from say 1,2,3 etc. From what I understand the 4l60e is competely computer controlled and I would think that if you are attempting to make a 4l60e work with a 95 M5 you would have to at least put in a 98 PCM. Now this is sounding like it could be done but, at what cost and what amount of time- I could not tell you. Hope this helps.
