Default Guys running a 4L80E, come inside.

I recently finished my conversion and I love it. The one strange issue I'm having is that the torque converter will unlock any time you let off the gas, but as soon as I step back into it the rpms climb for a second and then it locks up again. Its not a big deal, but when the cruise is set it can get a little annoying. Is this part of the truck tune that was inserted to control the 80 because I know my lockup point is set properly, but it just continues to do this? Thanks for any help on this.

Yea I have the same problem im pretty sure its something to do with the truck tune I just set mine to lockup at 65mph for now until maybe someone can figure something out. Im also not sure if my lockup is completly right sometimes it feels like it slips other times it feels like it fully locks. The converter was purchased brand new and only has like 250 miles on it and its been doing this since installed.

I am also having this problem. I havent had time to look at the tune much though.. Maybe someone has figured it out..

the torque converter will unlock any time you let off the gas,
That's a factory mileage trick, to unlock on deccel IIRC. Less drag that way than locked directly to the tranny when you aren't on the gas and producing power. You might have an option to change it depending on your tuner SW.

I know my 80E controller acts this way from the factory too, though it's a TCI..

Yea im pretty sure hp tuners doesnt have this capability in it yet. Maybe support or something over there could add it? Does anyone elses lockup seem to not lock then fully lock?

Mine seems to lock up fine, but the constant unlocking on deceleration is bugging me. Thanks for all the info guys. I guess one of the tuning gurus will figure this one out when they make the swap. Keep me posted if any of you figure this out.

Weird, mine isnt doing this. Once it locks its will stay locked. Ill look in my tune and see if I can find anything that would cause this.

Yea I heard maybe a certain truck program wont do this like a certain year or something or so I have heard. That info could be false for all I know.

the only time that it really bothers me is if im going down a curvy road about 45-55mph it keeps going back and forth and drives me crazy. Im sure its not good on the gas either.

Yea I just set mine for highway 4 now it seems alot better. It has to be better for the lockup clutch as well sure a stock truck lockup clutch is probably able to handle all them unlock lockup but a little 10'' clutch couldnt be as good.

If any of you guys can send me a .bin file from EFI Live software I can take a look at the Lock Up strategies to see where an adjustment can be made.

Some guys have sent me a "screen shot" of their files in the past using Hp Tuners and that has been useful as well.

Once it locks its will stay locked.
Does tapping the brakes unlock it immediately?

hptuners uses a 00 80e segment when they do the swap for you...it will stay locked on decel. Efilive uses a 02 segment for the swap and it unlocks on decel. It is a fuel mileage strategy that we are not able to access directly.

Are you saying that the only way to stop this is to use the 00 80e tune? I was hoping there would be some way to adjust this in the tune.

Are any of you running the yank crossmember and does it cause your torque arm to rub the driver's side of the tunnel?
