trans noise

trans noise i just installed a level 4 4l60e from FLT the trans is great but sometimes when it downshifts theres a clunking sound and you can feel it i think the header may be making contact on the drivers side anybody ever have similar problems????

Vince can speak for the tranny, and I'm sure he will. But I don't mind saying that it is very unusual for an automatic, or any transmission to have an intermittant noise. Especially a freshly built unit.
What type of exhaust is on the car... longtubes, y pipe etc...?
We do installs every day and I can tell you that indeed exhaust systems can be a pain to manage. Sometimes it is useful to loosen up all of the clamps and reposition the pipes.
Be sure to take a look at the transmission mount, it could be loose after a fresh install.

Yep it can be annoying to say the least. Now, one thing that is important is that when the exhaust hits the body it can and will impart a false detonation signal to the PCM through the Detonation sensors, so you really should have it looked at.
