Default What are the differences between a 4wd 4L60e and regular one?

I just picked up a free 4L60e from a 98 suburban. I need a tranny I can build up and swap into my car. Can I use this one, in what ways is it different from the one in my car?
Thanks,
Brad

The input shaft/drum, converter, bellhousing/case, I think the pump, and the output shaft.
Of course you could just put a 4x2 ouput shaft and tail housing on it and use the rest as is with a converter pilot spacer, converter, and the right flexplate, just like converting any other non LSX trans to a LSX engine.

The bell housing, tail shaft, and F body style tail housing, the shift linkage and manual arm. Watch for the 298mm and 300mm converters. They must match their respective input shafts.

It's a 1998 truck which is the same as a gen 1 engine.
So he's basically looking at swapping a trans made for a gen 1 onto an LS1 and since it's a 4x4 it has no tail housing and a very short tail shaft.

The parts I wrote are what you needed for your project. Go to your local trans shop and see if they have any of these parts. Also check the salvage yards for an F-Body core. They are usually around 75-100.00 for a burnt up unit. You need the hard parts plus you'll have extras. Your 98 motor is a Vortec style.
