bellhousing question
Help. I need someone to measure a bellhousing for a 4L60e. I just bought a bellhousing from chevrolet. Part #24206953. Open the box and the number embossed on the bulge where the starter goes says 24206952. Depth of this bellhousing is 7". If anyone has a 4l60e they can measure, I nee to know the depth and part number before I go back to the dealer and give him hell.

Yes its a ls1 from a corvette, as a matter of fact the entire drivetrain is '02 C5. Instaed of the torque tube I need to mate the trans to the engine. I am also looking for the shallowest (?) bellhousing.

Ok you have a strange combination , You have and LS1 engine normally I would say you need a bell with a bolt dead center top but with the trans you have this is not the case you need the LT1 housing without the bolt dead center top, But theres more It will use the lt1 style converter and to bolt to the LS1 you will need a converter pilot to crank spacer adapter, So if you have a bell with no bolt hole dead center top thats correct and would be the most shallow available, But you will also need the spacer just like the one used for a TH350 OR 400 TO ls1 swap .

Amazing you guys are both on. You can both disregard my e-mails regarding this as I'm getting my answers. Engine has a bolt dead center top, but none at 1:00 pass. side. Bellhousing (#...53) has 5 equal holes across the top. Do you know the chevy part # for the LT1, 6" bellhousing? Again, if I have that shorter bell, it looks like I can use my converter without 'extensions'.
