Break in time on newly built A4 transmission?
I have gotten some mixed opinions on how long to drive the car before makeing some WOT passes after the tranny has been rebuilt. My tranny builder told me that most trannys are driven hard right away and that the best thing to do is give the clutches a good hour of soaking in fluid before any hard driving. So far i have 65 miles on it and a new converter will go in the car in a few days when it arrives.
What is your opinion?

Mike at Yank suggested a few hundred miles of break-in time on his trannies to give the clutches time to break-in. He analogized it similar to putting on new rotors and wanting to immediately testing your 120 - 0 braking distance.
Wow we build them and run the traps the next hour.I tell my guys to run - em, heat kills trannies and I wanna know right now, not three hours or days later. I guess everyone is differant. I guess it depends on the clutchs being used too...I don't know never had too many problems with that.
How does a race car break in a trans. for a few hundred miles?

I've never been told that there was any break in time on any tranny. I bought my trans from Tom Izzo of Speed Inc, and he told me that I should "break it in" by going WOT as soon as I had enough road...
Seems that they don't need to be babied to much then? I know when i installed the converter i went WOT as soon as i hit the road lol. Guess i'll put a good 100 miles on it and by tuesday i'll see how this baby does with the 4.10s then it's 4200 converter time
