Default I Just Cant Belive This

I Just Got Finished Puttin In My Freshly Rebuilt Transmission And Wheni Was On My Test Drive The Car Was Still Slugish, It Also Would Not Go Over 50 Mph So On The Way Home I Started To Smell Smoke So I Hurry Home Thinking That I Have A Trans Leak And Cut The Car Off Pop The Hood And My Wire Harness Is On Fire!!!!!!!! This Has Never Happened, I Have Put In Like 3 Transmissions In This Car And Nothing Like This Has Happended. So Could This Be A Trans Releated Fire And Should I Go After The Trans People Or Is This My Fault??? Well If It Is My Fault Or Just Some Wiring Problem Where Can I Order A Complete Wiring Harness For A 1994 Chevy Caprice 5.7... Im At A Stand Still

Unless you had a leak fluid wise would not likley be a trans related fire. But It is possible you may have crimped wires between the bell and engine, Sorry about the missfortune though On the harness I dont know if GM still services that but a salvage yard may be able to help you a harness from a caprice.roadmaster.impala and cadilac should be compatable.

The first thing to do is to figure how and why the fire started. Go over your work first. As mentioned above this could be something that happened during the install. If your work all looks good, I would get in contact with the company that you purchased the trans from to see what their thoughts are. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Vince

Why on the trans The wiring may be why it didnt work so I would definatly tackel one issue ata time for sure.1 look and see if you had any leaks, Then look for wires pinched , Also look in your fuse box cause other than the main starter wire all other shorts should have blow a fuse instead of starting a fire. Pennys in the fuse box? Sorry but I have seen it done. Like I said one think at a time, Replace the harness, Check all fuses and then go from there.

Did any wires not get tied up by the headers if you have them.If it laid on the headers it would burn them and could start on fire.
