4L60: No forward gears...
I was just driving and they completely went out. Reverse and park work fine, but there's nothing in 1, 2, 3, or D...Just like it's in neutral. No problems prior to it happening other than I noticed the 1-2 shift was firmer than usual. No slipping, never got stuck in a gear, never had issues with it engaging in any gear, etc. Worked mint.
Like I said, it's like a light switch...Instant off.
I'm kind of guessing it's something electronic(solenoid maybe) based on the circumstances above. Any ideas?
BTW, it's an 01 formula with just a lid and a catback. Last time I 'beat on it' was a week and a half ago at the track. 13.06 @ 109.22. Besides that I drive it like an old grandma would.

That sucks. I'm not putting any money into this junk trans though.
I have a th350 that I'm going to have a local guy build. So I guess the car will be down until I get the th350 in it. But hey, it gives me a good reason to hurry up and get the trans built.
Thanks for the quick help.

You do know you will loose alot in the way of drivability with the 350 and they are not really IMO stronger than the 4l60e overall. I know when I was a kid we used to break alotta 350s with a lot less power than you guys have now. If I was going to a 3 speed auto? Which I would only do if the car was being made into a drag only car it would be a 400 trans. I mean dont get me wrong a 350 can be built to handle alotta power like the 60e can but if your going that way why not go the strongest you can. They are comparitvley priced to build. But do think it over all the pros and cons before you make the change. Since we dont require a core you might be surprised at the number of people we get who order the 60e from us swapping back from the 350s and 400s .
Good luck though in whatever you do.

I'm not worried about driveability...My last car was a carb'd mustang with a c4 that ran on 110...I can't get any worse than that with this LS1.
The guy building the trans is one of the very best in this area when it comes to drag-race 2 and 3-speeds...He's done numerous transmissions for alot of flying cars around here..and no one's ever had any issues. He pulled a buddy's 400 apart(behind a bbc on spray), and after 30+ tbrake launches and tons of street time, everything still looked damn near new.
I have the th350 core here right now, but if I can buy a th400 cheap or trade this th350 for a 400, I'll definitely go that route.
