Installed Vigilante 3600 - few questions & issues
Well, i got the vigilante 3600 installed today for $180 bucks
Our first problem was the gear selector. It would not select the right gear. Park was park. Neutral did nothing. R was neutral. D was reverse. and so on... we thought we had fixed it but i parked the car and stepped out and i saw it start rolling backwards thank god for open windows and hand brakes. lol. we immediately fixed the problem but the selector is still sloppy.
I took the car for a drive... the converter was very loose but that was to be expected. At 1/4 throttle, there as a .5-1 second delay between the 1-2 shift. Everything else was fine after that.
The converter would lockup at 40 and driving wa jsut fine afterwards. That is until i started to give it a little more gas.
There was a faint sound coming from the transmission. Sort of like the sound when kids put trading cards in teh wheels of bicycles and drive around with it hitting the bicycle frame and making a noise each time the wheel turns. This same sound seemed to be coming from teh tranny (or engine ??) but a very faint one. the more throttle i gave it and teh more the RPM, the more frequent the clicking was. Can anyone shed some light on this matter?
Also about the .5-1 second delay. I was told it was torque managemnt and that would be deleted this thrusday when I take it into tuning?
I also have a trnasmission cooler going in tomorrow.
Sorry for the long post just trying to be thorough.
Oh and for the record the 3600 is VERY streetable. Seems too tame for me. I dunno. but it kicks ***! can't wait to break it in to see what it's really made of.

Sounds like even $180 was too much to pay for that install!

hehe actually the install is jsut fine now. the noise is almost gone. i guess after its all nice and broken in it's good.
and the delay is from torque management and only comes on at certain speeds and rpms.
tuning from andy's auto shoul fix that

Sloppy shifter: you need to make sure whover installed your converter did not hang the shifting linkage when they were dropping the tranny, they could have stetched it out or broke the plastic.
Shifts: Did you break the clutch in properly ie so many lock at quarter throttle and then at half throttle?
Noise: I would make sure everything was put back in order, lines, little plastic peice by starter, all that good stuff.
Hope that helps some.
