Default need automatic advice

Okay i am not used to automatic cars. I have a 4 sp manual camaro and six speed camaro. I usually only race on the street. I was thinking about trading my lt1 on a A4 ls1 car. I am looking at a couple 99's. I was thinking automatics are more consistent. Are automatics any easier to hook up? If I trade again I will not have a whole lot to put into the car, but car craft stated in the sept issue that a converter added a half second or more in the 1/4. That sounds like my first investment. How much did you guys gain with a converter? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

On the track in my 01 LS1 Formula I went from a 13.4 to a 12.41 with a lid, catback and a 2800 stall Pro torque converter. I used nittos as my tire to hook.

A4 is better for racing but from what I hear M6 is more fun. I"m not a street racer so I can't answer any of those questions.

off the line racing is much easier with an automatic. A good converter and nittos will make you very quick. An M6 is better if you race from a roll.

Look for an A4 that has 3.23 gears. "GU5" option code or "performance axle" if the seller saved his sticker.

Yup, he can even find that gear option code on the drive side door. When you open the door on the door jam there should be a white sticker w/all the option codes on it. Just look for the GU5 one.
