TCI Converter Issues Guys i went from a TCI 3000-3400 to a 3500-3800
i went from doing 6.9-7.0@99.8 to 7.3-7.4@94-95mph on the same shot.... and trapping 92-93 on motor to 85 It feels like the converter is sloshing or something..on the 3000-3400 i could foot brake to about 2200 at best. With the 3500-3800 i can almost get to 4k? This converter had one pass on it before me. here is my setup..
TH400 2.48 1st gear
10bolt 3.42 gears
26inch tall et streets
100 shot.
dyno before on the 100 shot 462/585
What kind of role do gears play in this setup? Will a 4.10 gear out back take a bit of stress off the converter?

Re: TCI Converter Issues If you can footstall close to 4000 then you either DON'T have a 3500-3800 stall (very possible since you bought it used) or there is a problem with the converter. If it's really more like a 4800 stall then that would suck *** for running nitrous.

Re: TCI Converter Issues there is a number on the stall.... 24xxxxxx i dont recall it exactly but i looked it up on the site and its the Super streetfighter and its the 3500-3800...

Re: TCI Converter Issues Well, it's not acting like one if you can footstall it that high. Something is not right. I have a TCI 3500 and I can assure you that it footstalls nowhere near 4000 (it only true stalls to 3500 and your footstall is always a good bit under your true stall speed.)

Re: TCI Converter Issues I agree. Max Footstall on a high stall converter is typically 60 - 80% of its true stall with stock brakes. If you can footbrake to 4K you have Brembos or a 4800+ stall converter,

The converter that you have sounds more like a 4800+ stall than a 3500 SSF. It's hard to bet the StreetFighter 3000 stall converters for N2O applications. They are very efficient on the big end. Like Ragtop and the Colonel said, If you can footbrake a converter to 4000, then the stall speed alot higher than that. I'd reinstall the Streetfighter for the best ET/mph on N2O. If you would prefer, we could restall your Super StreetFighter and make it work on the jug.
