TAP shift not shifting into 3rd...

TAP shift not shifting into 3rd... I have an '04 Pontiac GTP with I believe a 4L65-E (HD?)and since the guys on the Pontiac board aren't being very helpful I was hoping someone on here could give me some insight...
The car has TAP shift and it shifts fine from 1-2 and 3-4, but it won't shift from 2-3.
If I'm in 2nd and shift to 3rd, nothing happens. I held 2nd until 55mph with the number "3" on the console until I finally had to shift into 4th.
I just bought the car and its already being a pain in the @$$.
Its also slipping in 2nd from 2-3k.
I've also noticed what feels like shudder at highway speeds on any acceleration.
Will the TAP shift not shift if it senses a problem with that gear?
Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

FWD is 4t65e. Do you have acess to a scan tool ? Can you see what the adaptive shift values are ? Not uncommon for the 4t65e to lose 3rd gear as the sc3800 is a monster on that transmission.

We have built quite a few of the 4T65E-HD units and find them to be very responsive to the changes we put in place.
It appears that based on your description the direct clutches (3rd gear) have failed.
