Default thinking about getting a yank ss3600?

I was planning on getting the ss3600 for 1999 camaro ss, and I have few questions.
1. Will it take more rpm's to get the car rolling?
2. On the highway I am at 2000 rpms at about 70(323's) what will it be with the ss3600?
3. will the gas milage decrease?
4. The SS has 78,00 miles on it will I need to rebuilt it, or is the stock 4l60e strong enough for the ss3600?
5. At the track is it better to just hit the gas when the light turns green, or is it better to power brake it to the point of spinning and then hitting the gas?

1. Yes, I have a PT4000 w/ 3.73s and it generally takes me 23-2500 to keep up with traffic. Wierd enough if I need to get ahead of traffic it goes to like 3000+, its either all or nothing. I just flash the thing if someone won't go.

2. RPMs on the highway (or anytime its locked) will not change.

3. Yes, I went from 19 (at the very best) stock to 15 with mine.

4. I don't think its strong enough for a 4 cyl S10, but some have better luck than others, mine took a **** last fall. I don't know if it was my Fuddle or its inherent weakness or a combo of the two, but I have a Performabuilt 2 now. They have a nice layaway setup (I would PM Frank for more details).

5. I can't completely answer that but I'd bet its a combo of the two depending on tires.

yeah gas dropped a few with mine but i also did a cam and things too... from what i hear your tranny should be fine if your not gonna be at the track all the time, just be sure you get a tranny cooler that is the important thing..its always smart to have a stall anyways just incase for a future cam or anything so that way you dont have to worry

1. Yes, it will take a little more throttle. With your 3.23's it will feel fine.
2. Locked up it will be the same.
3. In town you'll probably lose 1-2 mpg. On the highway it won't change because of lock-up.
4. I strongly recommend installation of the Transgo HD-2 shift kit while the tranny is out for the converter swap. Have an experienced pro do it if you're not.
5. Different strokes for different folks. I have the best results stomping it from idle. Tires will play a huge role. You will need MT Drag radials or the equivalent to hook with this converter.

I have experienced most of what has already been posted. I have an SS3800 and love it. The shift extension is about 5300-5400 and the mileage didn't change too much around town. The freeway didn't change. I have two 24K Supercoolers to keep temps' down and I've never seen it go above 185*. On MT DRs I've posted a best of 1.6X 60s' at a 3900 raceweight, so I'd say this is a nice 'verter
