Launching automatic stall car
So this is my question guys. With the mods I have in my sig in my 99Z I want to know what the best way to launch it is from your experiences, this past weekend at MIR I was trying to stall it up as high as I could but because of a brake issue I was only able to get it to stall to like 2800 rpm and doing that I was only cutting 1.88 60's and just stabbing it from idle I cut a 1.85 60'. (I THINK YOU'RE READY TO RUN BRACKETS) What do you think is the best way to launch an auto car with a 3600SS converter? Should I only stall it to like 2000 rpm or something like that? Just curious what you all think. Thanks

Jakes Dad I am running the original ET Street drag tire and the brake issue I had this past weekend just prevented me from stalling the car much above 2800 rpm. Most of the guys that have posted in here though say they are only stalling to 1200 to 2000 rpm or so and they are still cutting better 60's than me.

We had an LS1 guy that ran 11.58 a few months back with a 1.58 60 on a SS3600, run 1.65's and 11.8's when the DA returned to normal this time of year. So, you also have to take peoples 60's with a grain of salt, even with very similar combos.
Years back, a friend had full lengths, ORY, pulley, Lid and with a Yank ST3800 (no longer made) and went 12.3-12.5 all day long, on his 98LS1 and 1.65ish 60's. That converter was as loose as a SS4000 (as far a drive ablity is concerned) and flashed almost as high.
I've seen a ton of cars with similar mods to you and tight verter do 1.7 to 1.76 60 foot with 3.23 gear rear. If you want to go faster 60, your going to have to loosen that verter up, add more power or take weight out.

I don't think your times are all that bad. It may just take more time out there. I'd try stalling a little lower, like 2500, so that you know it's not going into second when you stage and stall. YOU'LL KNOW WHEN YOU LEAVE IT FIRST
