Need some help. I've got a 05 GTO, a4, with a vigilante 2800 converter.Serviced the trans, filter and fluid, dip stick says to use Dexron III so thats what I put in. Trans has been flawless for 300+ passes then this past weekend on the 3rd pass of the day, I launch, 1 to 2 shift, its like it went into neutral, go back to the pits no problem. Next pass it starts out in 2nd, going back to the pits it was clunking when it would shift so we put it on the trailer and called it a day. Got home and changed the fluid with the correct fluid owners manual says dexron III with the "H specification" so thats what I put in, old fluid was spotless. Went to the strip last night 1st 2 passes were fine, on the 3rd pass it starts out in second, back to the pits it was clunking when shifting. Made 2 more passes no problems? Drove home 60 miles no problem? Any ideas, all this started after I serviced the tranny, is this just a cowincadence? Stumped?

You said starting in second have you scanned for codes when this happens ?

 

Both times it has happened there were no codes on the DIC, if this is what you mean? I don't know what to think.
