i had my 4L60E built in Nov 07 the shop that did it is a good shop(i was living in hawaii at the time ARMY not rich) the shop had built me a 700R4 the year before in another car and it was GREAT so i dont think they did anything wrong this time, but hear is the deal, i have been driving the car hard most of the time and had NO PROBS what so ever, then about a week ago i was on the highway not driveing hard at all and lost ALL gears? i checked the fuild all is good, i have not looked at the car cents it happend because im in SC right now for school and the car is in KY, the car has a hughes 3800 stall in it, the fuild does not smell burnt, is there anything i can check befor i pull it out and send it back to hawaii?? the guy stands behind his work i called him and he said send it back and he would fix it for free but if there is something i can check out befor i pay to ship it then id lie to see. sorry this is long but i just wanted to give some back ground, thanks for any and all help

You could check line pressure. Does it have reverse? If it's got normal line pressure it's probably a mechanical problem, maybe a forward sprag.

Checking line pressure can be difficult if you are not tooled up for it.

My recommendation would be to spend a few dollars to have it inspected by a reputable shop near you. It might save you the time and trouble of pulling it and shipping it.

sounds like the same thing that happened to me. My issue was the front pump grenading itself. My transmission was also built for performance and was from a reputable shop.

A quick check for pump failure would be to remove a line from the cooler and start car if fluid flows pumps working if not then theres your problem.
