improving 2-3 shift
improving 2-3 shift i have a 2000 A4 WS6, my mods are lid,flowmaster catback,3'' Cutout, Free Mods, and a Custom Diablo Tune. I assume my car has the stock gears when i bought it. for some reason it seems like my 3rd gear is kind of weak because thats the gear my buddies cars such as other ls1's and z06's catch back up to me. it seems like i pull 1st 2nd and then the shift from 2nd to third is where they come back and catch me. i usually average around 12.8 to low 13's @ 105-108. I have my diablo tune set to shift at 5900 should i have it shifting at a higher rpm or is it just maybe my gears.???
It's possible that they are not quick enough out of the hole, but have more top end than you do. I don't think this is a 3rd gear problem. Remember that the engine is the power source, not the trans. When you shift to 3rd gear they are accelerating past you. If you run from a roll, (about 15mph), see what happens then. I believe you have 3.23 gears. Good luck.
