Default Converter? for 4L60E in light car

I am planning a LS1 swap into my 2002 Miata. I am trying to decide on auto or manual. If I use the auto what would be a good stall for a 2500 LB car. Remember my tire is only 23" and my gear choices are 2.73, 3.06, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73. I am thinking around the 3.06 3.31 range will be good. What is the weight difference? Is the auto phisically bigger than the M6? Also what is the "STR, SS, ST" and 2.0 business?

http://www.converter.cc/index.html

They have some good info on their site.

Also check with the site sponsors to the right for Converter info.-------------------->

I'd love to see some pics of that swap and some times on it when you get it goin. Should be alot better than the Monster Miata 5.0's if you do things right.

Good Luck!

Holy crap!

How do you keep the weight from messing up the suspension and handling?

since you will easily overwhelm your tires, you can go small in the converter stall speed and use a low STR. I suggest a 3000 - 3500 stall because you'll want the longer shift extension for good power from a roll.

BTW, we have a conversions section for people doing swaps. I hope you'll keep us posted and post your results in there.

Not much weight added up front. 200lbs? The car is 50/50 now so I wont be any worse off than the Camaro of Mustang. For a look try here Diamond Motorsports

Wow took a ride in a 01 Z-28 with the auto. 120 came up quick. This thing will be a handfull at almost 1000 lbs lighter.

Ok I found out what STR is.

That is cool.
How much is the conversion kit (not counting the engine)? Custom headers available?

JB: True stall will not be changed by weight; flash stall will be.
