torque convertor
I really don't run my car in the 1/4 mile. I am looking to boost performance on the highway. Is the torque convertor going to help the automatic's weak points at higher speeds? Also, can anyone recommend a shop in the Philly area that will do a decent job? What can I expect to pay for a convertor + install? My car is stock otherwise, so is a convertor a good choice on a stock car?
Yes a converter will. The extra shift extension will cure the dead spots on the upshifts.
I'd reccommed a SuperYank 3500. It has a low STR to make it easier to launch on street tires and it has an excellent shift extension and top efficency. It's about $800.
TCS could also make you a 3300 - 3600 stall with a 2.0 STR that would work to. Just tell them the goals and they'll build to meet those. That would be about $700.
Install will be $200 - $300. A plate type cooler for $50 would be a good idea too. We have sponsors in your general area. Rapidmotorsports, who sells the TCS and have worked on my car, JPR, and Cartek are within a couple hours of philadelphia.
