Default Possible to test a tranny?

Is it possible to test a tranny if it is out of the car? what is the going rate to open them up and go over them. I have one that I got from a salvage yard with 52,000 miles. I just would like to test it if possible.

Well if you can fin someone close with a trans dyno they could test it but would likely be expensive and you could have it torn down and inspected but that would cost nearly what A rebuild cost minus the parts and if its bad it will cost as much and generally if you tried to take it back to the junkyard after tearing it down they would likely say its yours now. Its a used unit I would just put it in
