what converter would work best for me?

what converter would work best for me? I have an 01 SS, no mods but a lid. I am in the process of purching exhaust and possibly a converter. But i am undereducated when it comes to transmissions/converters. Would the SS3800 be to aggressive of a converter for my application? I dont want to have to be putting a new transmission in the car in a year. How hard on the tranny's are converters? any input would really be appreicated.

Re: what converter would work best for me? Its not a car i drive often, I probably wont mod anything else on the car. I will purchase a set of ET's becuase i am sure they will be nessary for the traction. I am also installing a panhard bar, and boxed control arms. My car actually has the 3:42 rearend, it was an option when i ordered the car. I do do around town driving often, but i just dont want the tranny to be shot in 10k. And there will be a tranny cooler. thanks for advice, i will definatly appreciate any more they you may have.

It sounds like your wanting a stall in the 2800-3500 range with a 2.5str which will hit softer and not as aggressive as what alot of the hardcore guys are running. I would call TCS and tell derek what your wanting and he can set you up on a stall that YOU have in mind and not with a stall that is already assembled and boxed up for another guy. Check with the price of the other converter manufactors and then compare warrenty and restalls and im sure TCS will out do all of them. Re: what converter would work best for me? A different converter will not necessarily make tranny probs. I've been running with a 3500 stall for over 20K miles.
The real problem comes with the drivetrain as a whole, especially the differential. If you get a high STR, hard hitting converter,and your driving habits are extreme, well, that's racing.
I'm assuming, since you have an SS w/A4, that you have a 3.23 diffy. A 3800 stall would work just fine, if you find the driveability around town suitable for you. Some do: some don't.
At any rate, it should hold up just fine.
