Filter Information
Filter Information Was trying to figure out what filter(s) I need to buy when I change the fluid on my Formula.
The numbers I have from the AC Delco website:
I think I need this one:
"Filter Kit": 24229186 " FILTER KIT,A/TRNS FLUID
With RPO 4-SPD A/TRANS(M30) W/FILTER, SEAL AND GSKT, REGULAR SUMP"
My searches about the transmission have not brought up information on these:
24209145 "FILTER,PRESS CONT SOL VLV FLUID
With RPO 4-SPD A/TRANS(M30)"
24209144 "FILTER,SHFT SOL VLV FLUID
With RPO 4-SPD A/TRANS(M30)"
Also I was going to use Dextron III but I do have a gallon jug of Dextron VI in my garage from when I did the fluid on my 04 Grand Prix (just a gallon after the filter change was all that was needed to bring it to the full mark) and have had good results.
Was thinking that I should use Dextron III since it seems no one seems to report problems with it and so many are on the fence about Dextron VI, plus I could probably find 2 gallon jugs of Dextron III "name brand" for less than 2 quarts of Dextron VI at the dealer (no one local has it). Also from what I gather the biggest gain from Dextron VI is mainly a "true" life long fill. Since I will be giving this transmission hell frequent changes are required so this "super fluid" would be overkill.
Car has 114,000 on it, 4000 stall installed within the last 1-2 years from what I gather so I know the fluid was changed at some point, is darker than new, still red, fluid but it doesn't smelled burned, doesn't smell fresh, but not burned.
