Default Question about 350C Trans

Is there a way to lock up the converter other than "toggle switch"? Can it be controlled through the electronic speedo wire? Would like it to engage/disengage automatically. Got a hot rod with a 327/350C combo and am wondering what my options are. All comments welcome. Thanks!

I have used a Painless kit for the 700r4. There is a way to hook it up to a vacuum switch that works well and still has a brake cancel switch option. Hope that helps. Vince

Thanks Vince! The 700R4 kit can be used on the 350C?

I think the kits are going to be different because the internal solenoids. You should ask that question before purchasing it. I believe the external portion will be similar. Good luck. Vince

Theres a pressure switch on the valve body. Never did this to a 350c. The pressure switch should close in third gear. You can run a key on hot wire to the trans, to the switch, and to the solenoid. This way it will automatically lock in third.

I used to wire 700R4's like this using parts already in the trans.

I to have done this on 700's. The only thing I recommend if doing this, is to run a toggle switch as well. Reason being is so you can shut it off when you really do not want the converter locked. An example would be for racing purposes depending on your setup. IIRC there are different psi pressure switches for this trans that can be used. Might be something to consider as well if using this method to calibrate when the lock up will come on in third gear. Damn it's been a while since I built a 350 lock up! Vince
