I ran into that once. I rebuilt the trans and told the guy to get a new converter which he did. I also told him to get a new cooler which he said he did. A few weeks later it stopped working, I found a bunch of garbage in the pan. All I did was take everything apart and clean it, put it back together and offer to reinstall it.
He hung around drinking while I did all the work at his house. Same trans cooler was in the thing as before so I asked about it. He said he blew it out, I asked how, he said with his mouth idiot.
So I went to the parts store to get a cooler, and marked the price up 150% trying to get my loss back.

so if tci says the converter was fine it just had a **** ton of metal flakes in it . so what then? blame the shop right?
