Im thinking about puting a shift kit in my car when i get back from deployment to firm and quicken the shifts. The car is lightly modded with exhaust and a air lid and a handheld programer that was installed on the car before i baught it. Im looking at a few different kits but i need some advice. I dont want to do anything to the transmission that could cause it to prematurally fail. Im also planning on puting a transmission cooler on the car as well at the same time.

 

The trans go hd-2 kit is the only one we use.

 

yeah the TRANS-GO seems to be the choice most of the sponsors use. honestly, why not look into getting a beefed up tranny?

As long as it is installed correctly and not set up for bone-jarring shifts, there are no downsides to the Transgo.

 

Now what is the Torque Management Modification that that kit may require?

 

In our builds I feel comfortable telling the customer to remove as much as they would like. Keep in mind TM is there to reduce abuse on the drive line when the trans shifts. Basically removing horsepower. This is done with computer tuning. Most tuners will remove it or maybe leave a little in there depending on the combination. Vince

 

So let me get this strait, if i put that kit in im going to have to have a tune done to my car to have the TM taken out. If i dont have the tune done and i put the kit in, will that destroy the tranny? Thanks for the help so far.

 

No, a tune is not necessary. Having a tune done and removing TM is actually harder on the trans. Like Vince said, it removes HP while the transmission is shifting. It is suggested to remove the TM by tuning when the transmission has been built, so it can take the extra HP.
