Driveshaft noise?? help
Driveshaft noise?? help I have a 98 ws6 a4 and everytime i put it from reverse to drive or vice versa i hear a sound coming from under the car it almost sounds like someone is tapping on the aluminum driveshaft ... it's a small "tink" sound to try and describe it best. i looked at the drive shaft and it appears ok it even has grease fittings in the u joints. I have no clue, but a bud of mine had the same prob with his 99 a4 and could never figure it out. any ideas what to look for?

Re: Driveshaft noise?? help i have the same exact "tink" and have read other posts saying its a common problem on 3.23 geared cars with the aluminum driveshaft. my tink has gotten worse, it almost clunks now. ill be replacing my ds in the next week. ill post my results. kev
