Default 4L80E pump install question

Ok guys, i replaced the pump seal on my 4L80E, when i removed the pump all i did was remove the bolts and it came out easily. Now i cannot get the pump back in, is there a trick? Any advice would be greatly appreciated so i can get it put back together.

As long as the teflon rings are resized it should just require a tap with the handle end of a hammer.
If you're new at this I'd take everything with a sealing ring that goes into the pump out of the trans and make sure the pump goes on it all easy. If it does, you're good to go, it always takes a hard tap to get the pump in the case.

A couple things come to mind. If you had the pump halves physically unbolted, it is a good chance that you do not have them lined up perfectly. In order to do this, a large hose clamp style tool is used to true the two together. Also when the pump was removed you might have started to remove the over run clutch drum and OD planet assembly. It is possible that you could have dropped a OD roller in the over run drum or have a clutch that is not on it's clutch hub. Make sure that the large OD clutches are not hanging up on the over run drum as well. All of which will effect your units over all end play. Good luck. Vince
