Default tranny problem

Well I've been having problems with my 4l60E in my 99 transam jumping out of gear when at wot. It also has tci 3000 stall. Its fine at 1/2 and 3/4. I've got another tranny and stall on the way but I'm curious to what could be wrong with it. Today I figured out if your doing around 75 or 80 and floor it it will downshift to drive fine and not jump out of gear but if it has to downshift to 2nd i just get a vibration and it hits the rev limiter. Any thoughts on it would be appreciated. Thanks Brandon

Is this only on the 1-2 shift that it feels like it jumps out of gear? If so I would suspect a band failure.

It does it before its even ready to shift into second or drive. The only gear it will stay in when at wot is drive. If the band was bad would it cause it to not downshift into second and first when at wot? If it failed are the clutches prolly bad to? Also the fluid has never looked bad or smelled burnt. Thanks Brandon

The band could be badly glazed or worn and just not holding at MAX power WOT

Is this something you can fix without having to do a complete rebuild?

Possibly is the rest of trans is good but even so it involves removal and at least partial tear down but with another on the way not sure worth the time and effort,
