Vig problem maybe??

Vig problem maybe?? I installed a Vig 3,200 converter about a week ago . Well here's the deal , Coming home tonite from work , i jumped on it and it didn't shift to second it hit the limiter and i backed off and then i think it shifted . After that it was acting funny , it won't shift t 2nd and when it does it feels like Neutral untill you get the RPM's up . And ive also notice it won't go into reverse but acts fine in first gear . I should also say ive never felt it slipping ever and the car has just over 70 k on the clock , im thinking either the converter is bad or the front pump , it makes a wine-ing noise like maybe a pump , any help guys?? oh fluid level is ok btw

Re: Vig problem maybe?? If the car in not going into reverse at all then sounds like something is broke... mine did something like that 3-4 then hit the rev limiter. The Trans was never the same after that. Long story short I broke my sun shell. You might still have forward gear but it's going to have a hard time moving because, the sun shell is broke at the gear or cracked someplace. The sun shell is almost the weakest point on the 4l60e.
I had the same noise you are “a wining” sounds like a pump but I don’t think that’s what your problem is going to be.
You can check the converter by trying to stall it; this will also check the pump. If you raise the rpm’s and get it close to stall speed and you can’t hear the noise then you might be looking in to a new sun shell.
here is what my sun shell ended up looking like the new one i have is called the beast...

If you want to see if its a shell, first check reverse. See if you have reverse at all. Then, start the vehicle out in manual first gear. Wind it out then put the shifter up into second and see if it will shift. Then try and get the car up to about 30-35 MPH and put the shifter into Drive (or 3rd gear) and let off the gas and see if it shifts. Then slowly accelerate and put the shifter into Overdrive (or 4th gear) and see if you can get it to shift again. If the shell is broken, it will not shift into second when you put the shifter up into 2. Then when you speed up and put it in 3rd and let off, it should shift into third, then as you accelerate and put into OD, it should never shift into 4th. You also will NOT have reverse. Thats classic Reaction Sun Shell failure.
BINGO your da man thx a whole bunch , its exactly what my car is doing , ill gonna pull the tranny out and get it to my tranny tech but i almost bet $100 % thats whats wrong !

Re: Vig problem maybe?? If it's the sun shell buy the beast... seems to be very strong... I think there is another that is stronger but I’m not sure of the name.
I’m glad you found the problem but I hate to hear it to. I end up rebuilding the trany myself, it's not easy but easier then I had expected. good luck
