Default Is There A Trans Temp Sensor?

Hey guys,

Im thinking of installing a temp. gauge in my A-Pillar since I have a torque converter. Is there a sensor to tap into or anything else I could use? I really am not completely sure what I am doing here, so any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I believe the sensor is inside the transmission. Most people that hook up external temp guages put the sender that comes with the guage inside the pressure port on the driver side of the transmission. Thats where I put mine and it works great. I just have an autometer 2 1/16" electric guage. It came with the sender and it screws right into that pressure port. The only way to utilize the sensor inside is to hook up a scantool using the OBDII port I believe.

i welded a bung in my tranny pan. also hit it up with a drain plug while i had it off. and fresh fluid and filter. that was a very productive day.

This IS the correct way to do it, the pressure port on the side of the trans case accepts 1/8 NPT senders.

If your vehicle is not lowered a B&M 3qt deeper aluminum pan is the way to go.
