I recently checked my fluid and noticed some residue on the rag when I wiped the dipstick. The fluid still looks like it's in good condition (pinkish-red). Is this normal?

JEEEEESUS!! that title was hilarious...tranny dipstick residue isn't something i'd like to think of...blah. but seriously that's fine. it's not a big deal as long as the fluid is good. just some crap on your stick like a night on the town with a tranny...

Wasn't trying to be funny, but I'm glad I made someone laugh. LOL!
Anyway, the residue I am trying to describe is kinda like when you wipe the dipstick, there is some dark color left on the cloth (no metallic flakes).

Sounds like some clutch dust/dirt in the transmission. How long has it been since you last checked the fluid? If it has been a while, then this might be why you have seen what you have seen. If the fluid looks good and all works well, then it might not be much to worry about. Dropping the pan to do a visual inspection might not be a bad idea. If all looks well just service it and see what happens. Vince
