Default How long on average does your 4L60 last in your Fbodies?

A guy at work thinks its only 80,000 miles average on a rebuild. I have no idea but think its more than that. How long did YOURS last not you heard that your friends brothers cousin had one last til 500k?

184,00 my 3rd rebuild but I think it would last a long time if you get a tranny cooler.

got mine with 15k miles on it and the 4l60e went out of the car at 74k miles but the car had H/C since about 5500 miles with lots of nitrous pulls and lots of abuse. I just did the basic things converter/cooler/deeper oil pan/shift kit and the car made numerous 10sec passes until she gave out at Edgewater about 2 years ago.

I'm going on tranny three, going 4l80e. 103k on the clock. 60k first and 43k second one. All i have is full exhaust and lid. Just before it went i pulled some 13.06 runs with 1.98 60's too that could be why its messed up though

Thats a hard question really, Would depend on the driver and how much power you had and more on the driver. I have seen F bodies and other cars pass 200000 in fact my s10 truck did over that but it wasn't beat on either,

It's really hard to say because everyone drives differently. But the one in my LT1 fbody was at 130,xxx I think before I went Performabuilt. It was still running when I replaced it but would grind shifting 1-2.

i had a shift kit in my stock 4l60e and i have a lt4 heads/intake manifold and lt4 hot cam and hooker super comp long tubes with a 3500 stall and i dont know if it were the shift kit or if i were making too much power on a stock trans but i blew mine 3 times and every 3 months it would blow.. i rebuilt it twice and finally sucked it up and bought a RPM tranny and have had a problem since. RPM transmission has really impressed me on the level of abuse it can take and still drive home from the track..

On a stock motor, 120,000+ miles is not unusual.
I got 121,000 out of the one in my stock '98 Trans Am, but the guy who owned it before me didn't change the oil and it turned to mud. Was still working, but I had it rebuilt anyway to make sure it wouldn't leave me stranded. Got a big trans cooler on it now.
As mentioned, a lot depends on the way it gets driven, how much power you make, waaaaaaaay too many variables.

105k on factory 4L60E with no problems then it was swapped for a "built" 4L60E that appears to be in need of a rebuild with 1500 miles.

That's not too unusual. I have seen it happen over and over again with cars in my F-body club. The factrory trans makes it through a lot of racing and dozens and dozens of N20 passes. (not all, but some of them)
Then you see these so called "built" trannys crap out in one day at the track with some N20.
This happened to me, and after a few "race prepped" 4L60e tranny builds, I got tired of paying through the nose and went to a TH400 with hardend parts. I miss the OD to some extent, but knowing the trans will take all the abuse I throw at it is a good thing.
