Default Tranny is not engaging...

My buddy has a procharged 99 SS. He got a Yank 4000SS stall from a member on tech with only 700 miles on it and a few track passes. He also picked up a 38K mile 4L60E from another member on tech.
We dropped the old tranny and put the stall on the new one, seated it properly, and spun it to check to see that fluid came out of the tranny, it did.
We then hoisted the tranny and stall up and bolted everything together. We did not shim the stall, but neither did the previous owner. Before we let the car down, we started the car to see if fluid came out of the lines, it did again, so we buttoned it all up.
The car ran great for a while, ran a 7.7 at Irwindale (1/8 mile) with a 1.6 60'. Less than a few hundred miles later while exiting the freeway his tranny seems to have gone out. Every gear is like neutral, you give it gas and nothing happens. Disconnected the lines from the tranny and started it and no fluid flows now, I am dumbfounded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well the pump has certainly failed. Could be the converter spacing was off if to far forward when you rev the engine the plate will flex forward and wipe the pump

So that ruins the pump? Or can you shim the stall to fix the problem?

No once the pumps broke its broke you will need another pump or at least the pump rotor but most times the whole assembly

So the plate flexes, and the pump rotor slips past the TC and breaks the pump?
Where can I buy a kit to replace the pump? How much is it? How difficult of a job is it? Are there any write-ups/pictures of the pump R&R? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

give transtar a call, pull the pan and filter also remove pwm solenoid theres a small pushin retainer holding it in, then remove the lockup solenoid. stand trans up on its tail shaft pull the 7 pump bolts and remove the pump gently slide the new pump in making sure to put the washer on the pump with vasilene, apply some vasilene on the o-ring also you may have to tap the pump down fully you will have to get it off the tail shaft to get it down completely.reinstall your other parts in reverse, may sound difficult but really isnt but a 20-30 minute job.after all that you will be a pro.

We got it out, but it didn't want to come quietly, had to pry it out with a screwdriver from the bottom. The new one didn't want to go in without a fight either. Lithium grease and a rubber hammer did the trick. Got it all bolted up and it works great so far.
