Today I heard a thump and I suffered a lost of D4 and D3 in my transmission. My 1st and 2nd gear still operate fine. I have no grinding going on and the shift lever moves smoothly through the the gears. It seems like D3 and D4 see the same a Neutral. I checked underneath the car - and there were no leaks. Can anyone help me out with my issues? (2000 Camaro SS Auto)

 

Unfortunately sounds like you broke either the input sprag or the low roller clutch , Gonna need a rebuild or a trans

 

Wow - So in other words, the input sprag and the low roller clutch controls my 3 and 4 gears. With the fact that I'm over seas - it would be better to go with a rebuild kit as oppose to purchasing an entire brand trans?

Hey one more thing - I had to drive somewhere. I drive slow cause I don't need to RPM the 2nd gear. But, while I was driving, I made the mistake of tapping the gear shift. Once It hit third, it engaged. Curious, i did it again and it engaged and rode in fourth. It seemed that when i hit a bump or something similiar, it became disegaged. Any thoughs?
