Here is one way to find out if its of high quality or just a lower end one. Look at the mounting tabs where they mount to the cover, if they are welded on its not a upper end unit, upper end units use a billet aluminum cover that is cnc'd with mounting tabs as part of the cover.

His converters is curently holding world records in 1/4 promods, and are a work of art, and good for me that he is local.
Look in your phone book for transmission converter shops in your area, you may get lucky and find someone who builds them and will cut yours open, inspect it, and get you up and going.
If you need my converter guy's number, PM me.

Maybe one of our sponsors might be able to help. If it's a 245mm converter it is a better piece than the TCI type that uses the cheap TC build kit.

I have no doubt that the builder you deal with can build a badass converter for a pro-mod car. However, I doubt a record setting pro-mod car has a 4L60E transmission with a lock-up converter in it.
Not everybody has problems with these budget converters especially if PWM is disabled which prevents the gradual apply of the lock-up clutch. To each his own. But for the difference in price and the amount of money it could cost you if it fails (transmission rebuild) I'll go ahead and spend the extra coin on a quality converter.
