TH400 issues, need opinions
Its a RMVB TH400 trans with a Hipster trans brake, that is built by a local performance trans shop. The converter is a Neal Chance.
The first signs of any issues is that at times I would give it some gas in 2nd gear, get off for a little, and stab it again, but it wouldn't go. The rpm's would go up, but the car wouldn't accelerate. It did that a couple of times.
Something else is that last time I was driving it, it seemed "looser" than before. As if the converter had somehow gotten looser. I thought it was imagination and didn't think much of it. What its doing now, is that it is realy slipping in reverse. I have to rev it a lot higher than before, to get it to move. Does this sound like a worn rear band, or alot more? The converter only has 500 miles on it.
One thing that I should note, is that I used John Deer tractor oil in the trans time time. Alot of people are using it with good results in their TH400.
I am thinking maybe the fluid had something to do with it? If I end up getting my trans rebuilt, would I be able to completely flush the current trans fluid out of the converter? We drained some of the trans fluid from the pan, and it didn't seem burnt, and it didn't have too much clutch pack material in it.
Thanks for any replies.

Thats what I am thinking. If I go WOT, the car pulls like a raped ape.
Oh yea, I forgot to mention that now when I put it in reverse, it goes in like butter. You can't even tell that its engaged. Normally, it would shift HARD.
