A4 Shifter Stuck?
A4 Shifter Stuck? I was going over my car today and noticed my a4 shifter would not budge and the button on the handle was hard to push in. The car does not have a transmission in it so the line is just hanging down there I would think I could still be able to move the gear selector but no anyone had this problem or an opinion on how to fix it.
My shifter did this on my a4 and I took the **** off and was able to manually press the white plastic piece down for awhile to shift into gear from park.
I bought another shifter **** thinking maybe the original had some sort of problem with the internals, but this was not the case and the problem never got resolved.

My 93 is like that right now. Even with the trans cable connected I can't switch the car's gear from inside. I have to lay down on my stomach and switch it by hand on the trans. I think it has somehting to do with being a 93 and being controlled by a cable.
you sure you have the key turned one click forward when you try and move it? it still should move regardless if you have the battery hooked up or not. as long as the key is one click forward it will move. i just tried it on mine with the battery not hooked up
