What should I do to my car? Hi guys, new to the forum here. I just bought a 98 z28.
It's all stock, and I bought a motive 3.90 gear that I have'nt installed yet. I just read about a torque converter and was interested in that, but my car has 155,000 miles on it, and I wondering if the torque converter adds additional stress to the transmission or anything else. I need a setup that is reliable. I can't have things breaking down on me. The car seems to be in pretty good shape. Maybe most of the miles are highway. Thank You

A converter will cause a lot more heat. If you don't run a cooler for the tranny it will be toast. With the case of any 10-bolt, especially one with 155k on it, would probably break with a converter.
A torque converter is the best mods for the LS1 cars, I might be a little biased. It really makes a huge difference. Can knock off 1/2 second or more in the 1/4 mile. It will multiply more torque through the driveline and if the transmission is on its last leg, will probably push it over the edge. But if you want a dependable race car then you probably need a built transmission anyways.
