Default need some help

As a few of you saw a month or so i've been having transmission trouble.

Funds are VERY low right now with college tuition, insurance etc. all coming in a very short time, and it will simply be a few months before i can get it fixed.

What i'm wanting to know is, Is there a way to temporarily tune-out first gear. My first car, a 99 v6 camaro had a 4l60e that had second gear start capabilities with a button.

I purchased a vin from efi live and a friend of mine was going to tune it for me, a few days before the trans puked. (yeah great luck i know)

The problem is the 1-2 shift. Just before it would normally shift it starts slipping pretty badly (around the 15mph mark). Currently what i have been doing is giving it a little more gas than normal to keep it in "fully" in first untill about 20, and letting off. It shifts to second and there are ZERO problems in any other gear. As i said before, funds are low and i just want it too last a little while (no racing, just strictly driving miss daisy style)

Basically my questions are:

Can a "second gear start" (in other words no first gear) be temporarily put in place?
Will this help prolong the life (just a few months) of the transmission if there are no problems in second third or overdrive?

If the answer is yes to both, how can it be done. (my friend hasn't tuned many autos, and i don't know if he would know how exactly)

Thanks for looking.

You maybe should post this in the tuning section, Thats not something anyone has ever ask i am aware of but really if your slipping in 1st gear only you headed for trouble very soon reguarless of how you set the tune to start the car off , 1st gear is just the forward clutch and the low roller clutch holding either totally failing will leave you with a failed trans

When the car is IN first it does fine. when it wants to shift out of first is when i have problems.

Best i can describe it is around 15-20 if i don't let out, it's like someone is slowly pushing in a clutch pedal in a manual trans car, or for instance, if i'm in traffic and staying around the 15 mph mark the car won't pull correctly, like it is equipped with a large stall. if i give it more throttle it seems to go back into first fully (mind you, this is the only way i know to descibe it) and pulls as normal, that is until it wants to shift (and i'm not off the gas). When the car actually does the action of shifting from first gear into second it feels normal. maybe i should video i think between the rpm's and the sound you'd get a better idea as to what i'm talking about

no, it's goes 1-2-3-4 just like normal. it even does fine if i give it enough throttle from say 55 to second. (i/e 3/4 throttle) i've searched EVERYWHERE and can't find anything with a similar problem honestly.

I know i need to get it rebuilt (actually i have a spare that is going to get rebuilt so the car has zero downtime) and trust me, if i've spend plenty of time drooling over your transmissions, but honestly it's not an option for me right now.

Only reason i'm harping to figure out what's wrong is to see if by some chance there is a temporary fix. I've learned my lesson, you won't find my car anywhere near a staging lane from late july till mid december untill i graduate!

video, maybe this will help. sorry for the crappy quality, i just ran outside and shot it

the very last stop and go is how i've been driving it (maybe with slightly less throttle) MOST of the others i have the gas pedal steady, you will be able to decipher the exceptions
