gearing problem

gearing problem i bought a 98 z28 that originally had a 2:72? rear gear but now has a 3:42 gear and of course the speedo is off. is there another gear i can install in the trans to make it read correctly?
Only way is to edit the tune with a Predator/Hypertech/HP Tuners etc. or have a tuning person calibrate it. No physical way (like the gear in old transmissions) to change it. Takes me about 2 min. to change with my Predator.
What makes you think there is something in the trans that can balance this? Just take it to get a tune...its quick and easy. I dunno why you would try to buy more parts to get around it?
